How to choose a focused Grade 8 presentation enquiry
Turn a broad interest into an arguable question that supports a clear, evidence-based presentation.

Replace a topic with a question
A label such as technology or sport leaves too much to cover. Ask a question with a manageable boundary: one place, period, policy or comparison. Write a provisional answer before collecting examples.
Check whether evidence can change your view
An enquiry is stronger when credible evidence could lead you to revise the answer. List the assumptions behind your view and look deliberately for a source that challenges at least one of them.
Keep a research trail
For each useful claim, record the original source, publication date, context and any limitation. Distinguish a count or measurement from someone's interpretation. This makes later questions easier to answer accurately.
Test the scope aloud
Explain the enquiry and your provisional conclusion to another person in a short conversation. If you need a long introduction merely to define the topic, reduce the scope before writing a full presentation.
